联合国教科文组织基于 SIL作为一个国际民间组织，对人类少数民族语言研究所作的杰出贡献，授予 SIL专门咨商地位，有权在联合国纽约总部及日内瓦和维也纳的办事处指派正式代表。

国际化的人事组合

世界少数民族语文研究院(SIL)东亚部目前约有来自世界各地的160多位志愿者, 包括英国、美国、加拿大、澳大利亚、德国、瑞士、芬兰、爱尔兰、新西兰、意大利、日本、韩国、菲律宾、新加坡、中国香港特别行政区和中国台湾省等。

所有成员的共同目标是通过语言研究、推广扫盲班和翻译项目,发展中国国内各文化群体的社会水平、文化素质和物质文明。SIL 东亚部的财务支持来自于个人赞助、国际基金会和慈善组织。

Reputation for Excellence

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has recognized SIL International as an NGO which contributes in the field of language development, and has granted SIL International special consultative status. This status invites SIL International to designate official representatives to the United Nations headquarters in New York and to the UN offices in Geneva and Vienna.

Personnel

More than 160 volunteers serve with the East Asia Group of SIL International. They come from many different parts of the world, including: Australia, Canada, Finland, Germany, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Korea, Philippines, Singapore, Switzerland, Taiwan Province, the United Kingdom, the United States, New Zealand, and others.

EAG members desire to help members of the cultural communities of the People's Republic of China achieve their full potential through social, intellectual, and physical development. Linguistic research, translation projects, and promotion of literacy are key aspects of this development.

Financial support for personnel and projects of the East Asia Group of SIL International comes from individual sponsors, international funding agencies and charitable organizations.
